The three domes of the zoo

South America dome

The South America dome is the largest of the three domes with a height of 25 meters and a floor area of 2000 square meters. In the dome there is a lake with piranhas and other fish, manatees , a separate crocodile enclosure, Denmark's largest waterfall at 15 meters and a replica of a Mayan sun temple. Mainly one encounters different monkeys (for example jumping tamarins ) and collar peccaries , but also some macaws , which move freely.

Africa dome

Mantled monkeys, red-bellied lemurs , ibises and other animals live in the Africa dome . With a height of 12 meters and a floor area of 500 square meters, it is the smallest of the three domes.

Asia dome

The Asian dome is 14 meters high and has a floor area of 700 square meters. Flying foxes , gibbons and various birds live in the dome .

Africa grotto

Bats , aardvarks and Gambian hamster rats live in the Africa grotto .

Snake temple

Mainly snakes live in the snake temple, most of them are less than 3 meters tall and move freely. Only the Tiger Pythons live in a separate compartment. There are also many butterflies, toads, geckos and a few archer fish in a pond .

Skull grotto

The cranial grotto was inaugurated for the 13th anniversary of Randers Regnskov. Bats , anacondas , dog-headed boas , tarantulas and cockroaches can be seen against the backdrop of an old grave with more than 100 glowing skulls .

Night zoo

The night zoo houses nocturnal animals and animals that live in the dark (e.g. underground) in a special, darkened area.

DanmarksParken

DanmarksParken houses domestic animals such as pigs in a large outdoor area designed like a farm. There is also a large play area for children here.

Planned expansion of Planet Randers

In order to determine the market potential of a possible expansion by Randers Regnskov, the zoo was allocated DKK 1 million . If the study goes well, another 15 million DKK will be allocated, which will be invested in a new dome with a height of 20 meters, the basic dimensions 400 by 200 meters and an area of 63,000 square meters.
