Randy & the Rainbows
Randy & The Rainbows was an American singing group that was best known in 1963 for the hit "Denise" , the single reached number 10 on the US charts.
The group was founded in Maspeth , New York in 1961 as The Dialtones . The quintet sounded pretty good, but it wasn't the right song to get a record deal .
They should get that with "Denise" by the songwriter Neil Levenson . This wrote u. a. for the tokens and this group then produced the single , which was released under the band name Randy & The Rainbows .
The song became an international success a second time. Debbie Harry recorded a cover version with her group Blondie in 1978 (in the "male" version as Denis ) and had a number two hit in the UK charts.
Randy & The Rainbows get no further success. The follow-up single Why Do Kids Grow Up only reached number 97 in the US charts. However, part of the group still performs at oldie events today.
