Rangecell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In radar devices with digital signal processing, the range of values is divided for the distance measured in small portions Range Cells can be mentioned. A rangecell is the smallest unit in terms of distance.

In the case of radar devices without pulse compression , the size of the range cell is usually determined by the duration of the transmission pulse . If the transmission pulse duration is, for example, 1 microsecond, then the range cell is 150 m according to the general formula for determining the distance . If the theoretical maximum range of the radar device is 300 km, then a range excursion on the radar screen has a total of 2000 range cells and the memory for this data requires 2000 bytes .
