Rangeley Lakes and Megantic Railroad

The Rangeley Lakes and Megantic Railroad was a railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on March 12, 1909 and wanted to extend the route of the Rumford Falls and Rangeley Lakes Railroad from its northern end point in Oquossoc north to Canada. The founding of the company was repeated on March 16, 1911 and at the beginning of 1912 construction could finally begin. At the end of 1912 the line reached Kennebago . The construction was not continued, however, and the Maine Central Railroad acquired the company with its 17-kilometer route in the following year. It was shut down in 1936.
