Rumford Falls and Rangeley Lakes Railroad

The Rumford Falls and Rangeley Lakes Railroad is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on September 11, 1894 with the aim of extending the route of the Portland and Rumford Falls Railway (P&RF) to Mooselookmeguntic Lake . For this purpose, company law and land acquired this path for extending range and built a standard gauge , 43.5-kilometer railway from Rumford Falls by Bemis , and has a 6.4 kilometer branch from Houghton to Township E . Both lines went into operation on May 20, 1896. A right of use existed for 2.3 kilometers of the P&RF that followed in Rumford Falls. The main line was extended on September 1, 1902 by 14.5 kilometers to Oquossoc . A further extension of 7.6 kilometers to Kennebago Farm took place until 1907.

The company was leased on April 1, 1907 by the Portland and Rumford Falls Railroad for 1000 years, which the former P&RF also had under contract. The line was closed on November 27, 1936.
