Ranongga is an island in the New Georgia Archipelago in Western Province , Solomon Islands . Ranongga is 28 km long, has an area of ​​142 km² and the highest point is Mt. Kela at 869 m. The island was discovered in 1787.

As a result of an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 in April 2007, the island was lifted several meters in height, causing the surrounding coral reefs to dry out and shifting the coastline by up to 70 meters.
