Franz von Hofmeister

Franz Hofmeister , from 1916 by Hofmeister , (born March 30, 1867 in Rottenburg am Neckar , † August 14, 1926 in Friedrichshafen ) was a German surgeon and university professor.

Life

Hofmeister studied at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and the Friedrichs-Universität Halle . Since 1886 he was a member of the Corps Rhenania Tübingen . With a thesis on the surgeon Paul von Bruns , he was in 1890 in Tuebingen Dr. med. PhD . He then worked in pathology with Karl Joseph Eberth , the gynecologist Rudolf Kaltenbach and finally with v. Bruns. He completed his habilitation in Tübingen in 1894. Since 1898 associate professor , in 1903 he became chief surgeon at the Karl-Olga-Hospital in Stuttgart , and in 1907 at the Ludwig-Spital. During the First World War , Hofmeister served as general physician and advisory surgeon at the General Command of the XIII. (Royal Württemberg) Army Corps . For his achievements he was u. a. on August 30, 1915 with the Commander's Second Class of the Order of Frederick and on August 15, 1916 with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Military Merit.
