The Rationalis was a kind of finance minister in the Roman Empire .

In the course of the 2nd century and then especially in the 3rd century AD, the title Rationalis replaced the older names a rationibus or procurator a rationibus . From now on, subordinates of Rationalis continue to appear as a rationibus .
task
This minister had the task of all basic control to administer and collect. He was also responsible for currency stability, the mines and the mints.
