Smoke apron

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The smoke curtain , also known as a smoke curtain , is a component in fire protection technology . It extends from the underside of the roof to a certain height above the floor and limits roof section areas. In normal operation, i.e. when there is no fire, the smoke curtain is usually invisible or covered. In the event of a fire, the smoke curtain is extended, for example lowered, so that there is a space that is open at the bottom and limited at the top by the building ceiling. Smoke is trapped in it and a sideways flow of smoke and hot fire gases into another smoke section is counteracted.

The fire curtain fulfills a similar concept but a different function . As is usually the case with the smoke curtain, the fire protection curtain is covered in the normal position and is extended in the event of a fire, but it has a defined fire resistance , i.e. it prevents the fire from spreading over a certain period of time.
