The area protection is a type of operation of the Swiss army .

The army comes into play as the government's strategic reserve when the civilian forces reach their limits. By deploying the army, the state wants to prevent and / or contain acts of violence of supraregional, national or international proportions.

Responsibilities

The civil authorities are responsible for the security of the area. The leadership responsibility, however, lies with the military leadership.
