Pound out

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rauspund (sometimes also: roughcast or bung boards ) are planed front side, back side and leveled edged (on the longitudinal side straight-cut) boards , with the side groove and tongue are provided. They are mostly made from spruce , fir or pine , more rarely from larch or Douglas fir .

Rauspund is used in loft extensions, interior fittings, for simple floors or as construction wood in outdoor areas (garden houses, etc.). A distinction is made between fresh and dried Rauspund. The dried goods are mainly produced in Scandinavian and Baltic states.

Rauspund is considered to be construction timber and, even as dried goods, may contain up to 20% moisture and imperfections such as knotholes and resin pockets. When laying indoors, shrinkage and throwing of the wood is to be expected. For joint-free, level and even installation, planed boards with a moisture content of less than 10% and standing annual rings, which are often more hard, should be preferred.

Pound boards are mostly traded in thicknesses of 21 and 24 mm and a width of 121 mm. In the past, 96 mm wide boards were also common. The width is measured including tongue and groove. Usually lengths of 2.70 to 5.40 m are offered in increments of 30 cm each.
