Raymond "Ray" Paul Mears (born February 7, 1964 in Kenley , Greater London ) is a British survival trainer , author and filmmaker.

Life

Ray Mears grew up in the North Downs , among other places, and has always had an interest in survivalism , wilderness survival and indigenous survival techniques . He set up his own company Woodlore at the age of 19 , organized survival camps and published his first guide in 1990 with The Survival Handbook . He had his first TV appearances in 1993 in the BBC Two series Tracks . Since then, Mears has been active in several successful TV formats on ITV and the BBC and has published numerous books.
