The Real Federación Española de Hockey (RFEH) or in German the Royal Spanish Hockey Association is the umbrella organization for field and indoor hockey in Spain .

history

After hockey had been played in Spain before the First World War , but had not yet had an organizational structure within an association, the need for a higher-level organizational structure was recognized. On January 28, 1922, therefore, at a meeting held in Barcelona, ​​a commission consisting of delegates from the associations from Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao, which had more or less officially governed the interests of this sport in the country, drafted a statute. Joaquín de Aguilera y Alonso chaired the commission . Three days later the draft statute was presented to the government. At a renewed meeting of the same commission on February 26, 1922 in Barcelona, ​​an official statement from the authorities was still pending, so that the provisional establishment of a national association with an interim committee to lead it was decided. This was chaired by Luis Hernández Inegas as President. On March 3, 1923, the official establishment and entry in the association register took place. On March 4, 1924, the first official statute was approved in an extraordinary general assembly held in Madrid. In 1924 the association received by decree of Alfons XIII. the additional designation "royal". Alfonso XIII accepted the appointment as honorary association president. The Federación Española de Hockey was also actively involved in founding the international hockey association Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH).
