The secondary school for boys , often also called boys' secondary school , in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate is one of the few remaining state schools with seed education , the girls secondary school is just a few hundred meters away.

history

On April 3, 1959, the Neumarkt City Council applied to the Ministry of Education for the establishment of a state secondary school for boys . In the 1959/60 school year, teaching began in the premises of the Bräugasse elementary school with two entry classes, the 67 students of which were taught by three teachers. On June 15, 1961, the city council passed the resolution to build a new school building above the outdoor pool in the so-called "sand hole". With the school year 1963/64, teaching began in the new school building, the construction costs of which amounted to 1.5 million DM.

For the school year 1965/66, the Bavarian middle schools were renamed " Realschulen " and on September 1, 1965, the State Realschule for boys and girls was split up. Only since then have there been two secondary schools in Neumarkt, the state secondary school for girls at the castle pond and the state secondary school for boys above the swimming pool.

After completing the successful school trial for the R6 , it was decided to introduce the six-level secondary school across the board from the 2000/01 school year. In 2001, 6 classrooms and 5 specialist rooms were built at a gross cost of DM 7.2 million, a completely new break hall was built and the foyer was redesigned; the old building was completely renovated and an elevator was installed. The new capacity with 22 classrooms and 17 specialist rooms was designed for 700 students at full capacity. The continuously increasing number of students led to another space problem. Therefore, in October 2008 the Neumarkter Kreisag decided to add six classrooms at a cost of around 1.4 million euros. The new building was ready for occupation on June 15, 2009.
