Rebeur Paschwitz Prize

The Rebeur Paschwitz Prize (complete: Ernst von Rebeur Paschwitz Medal ) is a geophysical award given by the German Geophysical Society e. V. (DGG) is awarded.

The prize is named after Ernst von Rebeur-Paschwitz (1861–1895), who became famous for his work with the horizontal pendulum . In 1889 von Rebeur-Paschwitz was the first to record the ground movement of a teleseismic earthquake , thus doing pioneering work in the field of seismology .

The Rebeur-Paschwitz Prize is to be awarded approximately every 2 to 3 years at the annual meeting of the DGG. It was awarded for the first time in 2004. The award recognizes outstanding scientific achievements in the field of geophysics .
