The lawyer directory , also known as the electronic lawyer directory or lawyer directory , is a database in which lawyers are entered.

The bar associations lead instead of the outdated law lists since June 1, 2007 Electronic lists of approved lawyers in their districts. The Federal Bar Association maintains an online accessible general directory called "Nationwide Official Lawyers Directory" with all lawyers admitted in Germany, the European lawyers licensed in Germany, the lawyers established in Germany from other countries according to Section 206 of the Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO) and all legal counsel .

The directories serve to provide information to the authorities and courts as well as to those seeking legal advice and can be viewed free of charge. The legal basis for the German bar associations is § 31 BRAO.

The European Commission , together with the national bar associations, offers a European Lawyers Directory.

An electronic search system can be used to search for specific lawyers online .
