A true bearing ( English true bearing , TB) is defined as the angle between true North (engl. True north and the line TN) ground stations - aircraft or aircraft - ground stations , as measured in the clockwise direction.

Since this can lead to confusion, you should add whether the bearing is meant to be true bearing to the station or true bearing from the station . The Q groups QTE and QUJ clearly define this.

A true bearing can be entered directly in aeronautical charts or nautical charts , as these are aligned with the true meridians . This does not apply to radio navigation cards that indicate magnetic courses .

However, the term "true bearing" is not restricted to flight navigation. It is also used in all other cases where a direction is related to the geographic north pole of the earth.

In general, a true bearing is assumed to be the normal case and is not specially marked because - in contrast to a magnetic bearing - it remains the same regardless of time and location. In all navigation calculations, however, it must be taken into account that a magnetic compass always shows a magnetic direction, which must be " loaded " (mathematically corrected) in order to obtain a correct direction . The loading value is time and location dependent.
