The Recta AG was a Swiss manufacturer of compasses in Biel / Bienne .

The company was founded in 1897 by Antoine Muller and Alcide Vaucher as a watch factory. Recta has been producing compasses since 1915, and in 1942 the Swiss patent 220782 was granted for the pocket compass with mirror, which is also used by the Swiss Army , the Austrian Armed Forces and the Canadian armed forces .

Recta was taken over by Suunto in 1996 and production relocated to Vantaa in Finland at the end of 2008 . The "Recta" brand was later discontinued, but the compasses are still produced by Suunto.
