The term recte (from Latin rectus , straight, unbent, upright ' ) is used in various (technical) areas:

In typography , a “normal”, “regular”, “straight” (not italic ) font or a font style is referred to as recte , whereby the character shapes are perpendicular to the line. In German-language computer programs ( word processing , typesetting programs , etc.), various other terms are used synonymously instead (depending on the operating system and the application and font used) - e.g. B. Normal, Regular, Standard (usually in nominalized spelling) - or with this font style, only the font family name is shown in lists , while the style name is omitted.

Law and humanities

In legal or general humanities linguistic usage, recte is used in the sense of correct , when an error in a cited document is corrected, "straightened out". For example: "With his submission of May 5, 1005 (recte: 2005) the plaintiff is requesting ..."

Name customer

In registers for Jewish names from Galicia, the word recte also connects the father's surname and the mother's surname if the children were classified as illegitimate. If the order was reversed, the names were linked with false .
