Reed Business Information is a subsidiary of the world's leading specialist publisher RELX Group , which operates in four segments:

  • Science & Medicine,
  • Legal & economic information,
  • Education & training,
  • Business to Business, including ICIS , Accuity, XpertHR and Reed Construction Data

Reed Elsevier's core operations are in North America and Europe. The company employs around 32,000 people worldwide (as of 2012) and achieved sales of around 6.1 billion euros in 2010. Reed Business Information (RBI) is the international business-to-business division of Reed Elsevier. The portfolio comprises more than 400 market-leading titles, newsletters, directories, reference works and online services in over 48 market segments and on 5 continents.

Until mid-2009, activities in Germany were concentrated in the four market segments of architecture, medicine, technology and e-business; Medicine was given up in mid-2009. Reed Business Information currently publishes three trade magazines, DETAIL , Recycling Magazin and Digital Production . Since the beginning of 2006, operates or turnkey Reed Business Information in Germany the industry search profile page , HotFrog , and since 2008 the now relisted search engines Linx and youbizz.

The company employs around 70 people in the Munich branch.

The publisher's internationally known periodicals included the weekly scientific journal New Scientist .

After Reed Business' negotiations for the sale of Reed Business Information failed in 2008, Reed Business Information sold the book industry titles Publishers Weekly to PWxyz LLC and Library Journal and School Library Journal to Media Source in 2010 .
