Detail (magazine)
Detail (spelling: DETAIL) is an international magazine for architecture and construction details of the Detail publishing house (a company of DETAIL Business Information GmbH). Each issue deals with a special construction topic (e.g. building with concrete, roof structures, renovation, etc.). The focus is on the quality of the structural details. Drawings with comparable scales and photographs illustrate the current examples from home and abroad.
The focus is on the representation of new structures in photos, texts and construction drawings . The target group are primarily architects , civil engineers and other construction professionals.
Detail is not to be confused with the former US scene magazine Details .
history
Detail first appeared in 1961 with six issues a year. The first bilingual booklet (German / English) was published in 1987, thus further conquering the international market. Since 1996 there have been eight editions a year. Detail went online in 1997 and then, as now, offered in-depth content on the magazine, ordering options, industry backgrounds and the archive (today: Inspiration). From 1999 the publisher also offered a brochure that contained not only the French but also Italian and Spanish translations that had been available since 1994. With the introduction of the “Concept” series in 2002, the range was expanded to ten issues per year.
From 2002 to 2012 there was a Spanish edition of the Detail. In 2003 Detail China was published as a license by Dalian University of Technology Press and just one year later the Detail English Edition started as a purely English-language edition with six issues a year. From 2004 to 2008 there was a Japanese edition.
Brief description
The content includes documentation and information on construction objects of all categories. The focus is on showing constructive and architectural relationships. Detail consists of five headings: Discussion, reports, documentation, technology and products and represents a source of information for planning and architecture offices. Twice a year, Detail Concept offers an in-depth presentation of the entire construction process. In addition to the design idea, they shed light on the entire planning and construction process of outstanding buildings. The Detail Green special editions also provide information on all aspects of sustainable building twice a year .

The magazine contains reports and current reports, specialist discussions and special reports, property documentation on buildings and rooms, with images, drawings and explanations, technology, product information on construction, interior design and furnishings, some with images, as well as reports on events, building law and building physics.
Each booklet focuses on a particular construction topic, which is presented with current examples from home and abroad. The selected projects illustrate the spectrum of the topic and, together with their documentation, form the core of the respective issue. The preceding discussion gets you in the right mood with interviews, critical statements and flashbacks on the issue. The technical presentation that follows deepens the topic with specialist articles and concludes the article with product information.
Appearance
Detail appears ten times a year and is delivered in more than 80 countries as a bilingual, German-English edition. There are also two booklets of Detail Green . In addition to the international edition, the magazine is also available as a purely English publication six times a year. Detail in the Chinese edition appears six times a year. A French and an Italian translation supplement is available online.

The print run of the German-language edition is 28,167 copies, the actual circulation average annualized ( IVW quarterly report 2018) is 21,499 copies.

Detail magazine is part of the Detail Network . This includes Detail (magazine, website and Detail transfer , Detail 360 ). It serves as an online community , database, reference work and marketplace for specialist information in the field of architecture and construction.

Detail Inspiration contains previously published articles of Detail , which are available for download.

Architects, specialist planners, interior architects, designers and consulting companies have the opportunity to present their company and their projects themselves in a visual and descriptive manner on Detail360 ° . The specialist community offers a platform to make new contacts or to deepen relationships with partners and customers. In May 2008 an internationalization took place with the English version of the Detail360 website . Since then, offices have been able to present themselves and their projects internationally in English and find partners around the world more easily.
