details

The roots of the shipping company can be traced back to the 17th century over twelve generations of sailors and captains. Today's company goes back to Heinrich Jüngerhans, born in 1865, who bought the coaster Maria in 1931 . Heinrich's son Stephan founded Stephan Jüngerhans & Söhne oHG in 1961 and had the family company's next ship, the A. Jüngerhans , built in the same year . In 1965 was the next coastal ship, the Stefan J , in order, which was led by Stephen son Henry and the following year was followed by Adele J the next new building. In 1971, Stephan J first switched to raising the capital for the new building by means of a limited partnership. At the end of the 1970s, the shipping company entered a new area of cargo shipping with the RoRo ship Adele J and replaced smaller units with larger ships in the 1980s. At the beginning of the 1990s a fleet expansion began, which included whole series of container ships and in 1995 the company Arkon Shipping was founded together with the shipping company Wessels and a ship broker, which took over the joint chartering. In 2000, Jüngerhans Maritime Services GmbH & Co. KG was founded and took over the shipping company.

Today (as of May 1, 2019) the shipping company operates a fleet of 40 ships. In addition, the company also works in chartering and shipping.
