The Reek Point ( English for Stankspitze ) is a headland that marks the northern end of Zavodovski Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after the odor caused by the volcanic gases that are characteristic of the island.
