Jozef Sivák government

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The government of Jozef Sivák , led by Prime Minister Jozef Sivák , was the fourth government of Slovakia (officially also "Slovak Land", Slovak Slovenská země ), the autonomous state of Czecho-Slovakia 1938-1939. She was in office from March 9, 1939 to March 11, 1939. It followed the Jozef Tiso III government and was replaced by the Karol Sidor government.

Government formation

After the previous government of Jozef Tiso III , led by Jozef Tiso , was dissolved on March 9, 1939, the government of Jozef Sivák took office. The government was dissolved on March 11, 1939, already during the ongoing disintegration of Czecho-Slovakia and only two days after its introduction.

Government composition

Besides Prime Minister Sivák, who also held a number of ministerial posts, the government consisted only of Minister Teplanský; both were in office from March 9, 1939 to March 11, 1939.

Party affiliation

The leading and only authorized party in the Slovak state was Hlinkova slovenská ľudová strana - Strana slovenskej národnej jednoty , known in German as Hlinkas Slovak People's Party , or Hlinka Party for short . It had the character of a unity party .

Remarks

  1. The legally enshrined autonomy of Slovakia (Law 299/1938, text online ) and the Carpathian Ukraine (Law 328/1938, text online ) established two autonomous governments for these two parts of the country; the so-called "Czech Lands" (part of the country consisting of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia) did not receive their own government and were administered by the Czech-Slovak central government in Prague, which also took on some tasks (such as the foreign ministry and defense) for the entire state.
  2. According to some sources such as ... psp.cz / ... there was no Jozef Sivák government , but Sivák, who was deputy prime minister in the Jozef Tiso III government , was appointed prime minister of his existing government after the ousting of Tiso she left, albeit with exchange of almost all the ministers; that Sivák was deputy prime minister under Tiso is only stated in the source just quoted. The Sivák government is mentioned in other sources as an independent one.
