Regina Philips

Regina Philips (born March 6, 1961 ) is a former German judoka who was Vice European lightweight champion in 1983.

Regina Philips was every year from 1981 to 1988, with the exception of 1986, German light weight champion, 1990 and 1992 she was light middleweight champion. She started for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , in 1992 she joined TSV Abensberg .

After finishing fifth at the 1982 European Championships, she reached the final in 1983. There she was defeated by Gerda Winklbauer from Austria. In 1984 she won a bronze medal. At the European Championships in 1985 and 1986, she finished fifth. At the World Student Championships she won silver in 1984 and bronze in 1986. In 1987 she won a bronze medal at the European Championships. Half a year later she also won bronze at the World Championships in Essen , after losing to French Catherine Arnaud in the quarterfinals . At the 1988 Olympic Games , women's judo was held as a demonstration competition. Regina Philips was defeated by the Chinese Liu Guizhu and took third place. In 1990 she moved to the light middleweight division, but could no longer win international medals.
