The Bildungsregion Südniedersachsen e. V. is an association of municipalities and educational institutions in southern Lower Saxony. It emerged in 2017 from the Regionalverband Südniedersachsen eV , which was founded in 1993 by municipalities, companies and associations in southern Lower Saxony .
The tasks include the improvement of coordination, cooperation and communication in the educational sector in the South Lower Saxony region.
Members and Organization
The education region South Lower Saxony is an amalgamation of the districts of Northeim and Göttingen, the city of Göttingen and the state of Lower Saxony. Furthermore, almost all cities and municipalities in southern Lower Saxony as well as other educational institutions in the Bildungsregion Südniedersachsen eV are involved. All of these partners provide human and financial resources for the work of the education office.
In addition to the general meeting, the board of directors and management, a regional educational advisory board and two specialist advisory boards are planned to support the content-related work.
The board of directors is made up of the people listed below and meets 3–4 times a year.

- Board members: Head of Department Maria Schmidt (for the city of Göttingen), Head of Department Uljana Klein (for the Northeim district), Mayor Jens Meyer (for the communities in the Northeim district), Mayor Mathias Eilers (for the communities in the Göttingen district), Head of Department Jan Eckhoff ( for the Lower Saxony State School Authority)
Anna Wucherpfennig is responsible for managing the association. The student councilor is assigned to the association by the state of Lower Saxony and has been in charge of the business since February 1, 2017.
The general assembly of the association meets annually to decide on the strategic and financial direction of the educational region Südniedersachsen eV.
Goal of the educational region
The aim of the education region South Lower Saxony is to implement education management for the region in the long term. A high quality of education as well as educational equality are the guiding principles in the work of the education office.
The strategically oriented work of the education region South Lower Saxony initiates fair, transparent and coordinated access to education, models low-barrier transitions and strives to improve the education location of South Lower Saxony.
To this end, the educational region of Southern Lower Saxony runs various initiatives and projects at the various transitions from family to daycare, primary school, secondary schools and the labor and training market.

The education office works with all stakeholders from early childhood education to professional life to create a successful educational biography for children, adolescents and young people.

Methods
Live the state-communal community of responsibility for education, pass on impulses across institutions and use synergies, create communication and transparency between the actors involved, design and optimize transitions in the education system, define minimum standards together with the regional actors, carry out education monitoring, build network or project structures and the region get involved through the greatest possible participation.
Target groups and cooperation partners
The direct target groups include municipalities, Nds. State school authority as the representative of the State of Lower Saxony, daycare centers, daycare centers and all-day care with their respective providers, schools and universities, companies, chambers, employment agency and all other actors involved in the education sector
