The regional elections in Abruzzo were held on February 10, 2019. All 29 seats of the legislative assembly in Abruzzo, the regional council, were up for election. The office of regional president was also an option. Marco Marsilio was elected as the new regional president. He was the joint candidate of the center-right alliance of Lega , Forza Italia and the Italian brothers . The center-right alliance thus replaced the social democratic Partito Democratico (PD), which was victorious in 2014 .

The election was seen as a defeat for the MoVimento 5 position , because, contrary to the polls, in which it came to over 30%, it remained below 20% and thus suffered losses in the last regional election, which overtook it from the Lega from the north. Compared to the parliamentary elections in Italy in 2018 , it even lost more than half of its votes.
