Wool

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Recycled wool is a re-used, i.e. recycled product made from old textiles . Both worn woolen fabrics and waste from the textile processing industry are suitable for processing. Due to the shortness of the fibers of the shredded wool, only carded yarn textiles can be obtained from shredded wool. Use as part of virgin wool items is prohibited by law.

During processing, the fibers are torn from the original fabric. This naturally shortens the fibers, and different qualities are distinguished depending on the starting material.

Reclaimed wool is classified as follows:

  1. Zephir :> 50 mm fiber length, made from soft woolen knitwear
  2. Shoddy : wool made from stronger knitwear and hosiery
  3. Golfers : Made from women's outerwear knitted fabrics
  4. Thybet : Made of wool fabric, fiber length less than 50 mm
  5. Mungo : Very short fiber made from woolen fabric
  6. Alpaca , extract : Very short fiber made from a wool blend
