A reamer is a tool that is used in violin making .

After pre-drilling the vertebral holes, the reamer is used to widen the inner bore conically . The cone for violins is usually 1:30, for cellos 1:25. Furthermore, worn peg holes are smoothed with the reamer or adapted for the installation of fine tuning pegs .
