Reichelt Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG is an electronics and computer technology mail order company in Germany owned by Dätwyler Holding . The logistics center and the only sales point are located in Sande (Friesland) . Since 2017, the company has been on the list of the 100 top-selling online shops in Germany, regardless of its product range.
history
The company was founded in 1969 in the Wilhelmshaven private apartment of the Reichelts. In the first few years the range was mainly limited to electronic components . In 1976 the company expanded and moved to newly built residential and business premises. In the 1980s, the catalog consisted of a few tightly printed A4 pages.
After Angelika Reichelt separated from her husband in 1989, she bought the company in 1990. At that time, Reichelt Elektronik had 20 employees and was in debt. In the years that followed, the range was expanded to include all branches of electronics.
In 1995 the company with 80 employees moved to the industrial area of the neighboring municipality of Sande after three years of unsuccessful efforts to expand in Wilhelmshaven.
In May 2005 the new Reichelt Elektronik logistics center was inaugurated. The logistics area was expanded to 8,000 square meters through an extension. In the newly created logistics center, over 30,000 items from electronics, PC and network technology can be conveyed, sorted, picked , packed and shipped.
In 2005, Reichelt Electronics had a turnover of over 100 million euros and around 220 employees.
Angelika Reichelt retired at the beginning of 2010. Because there was no family member available as a successor, she sold the company to the Swiss Dätwyler Holding . René Trauffer was appointed temporary managing director. On October 1, 2010, the company received a new management trio. The management spokesman is Ulf Timmermann, who was part of the management at Reichelt Elektronik before the sale.
Since January 2011 there has been a separate website for the Austrian and Dutch markets.
In October 2014, the Datwyler Holding Supervisory Board decided to build a new hall on the premises at the Elektronikring. The construction project has a volume of around seven million euros and will increase the logistics capacity of Reichelt Elektronik from 4900 square meters to 10,250 square meters. The expansion of capacity should also create around 100 new jobs at the Sande site.
