Rich ore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rich ore is the name for an ore with a particularly high metal content.

Such enrichments form, for example, secondarily in the cementation zone of otherwise undeveloped deposits through long-lasting weathering processes . They are therefore also called rich ore zone .

In the case of primary enrichment in dike deposits , one speaks of ore decay .

However, there are no fixed limits as to the metal content from which an ore is considered rich ore. This depends to a large extent on the value of the metal and the technically and economically feasible processing methods . For example, iron ore with an Fe content of 50 percent or more was considered rich ore in the 1950s.
