Reich Association of German Democratic Students
The Reich Association of German Democratic Students was founded in 1919 as the official university association of the DDP and existed until the end of the Weimar Republic . In an alliance with the Socialist Student Union , which is close to the SPD , the Reichsbund campaigned against rampant right-wing radicalism in the student body at the time and was one of the pillars of the Republican Student Cartel (1922) and the German Student Union (1928), which was founded as an alternative to the German student body .
After the reorganization of the DDP into the German State Party , the Reichsbund continued to exist from 1930 without party affiliation.
Like most political university groups of the Weimar period, the Reichsbund remained numerically weak and in 1931 had around 20 university groups with around 500 members.
From 1929 to 1931 the Reichsbund published the journal Der Demokratie Student .
