Ripe (unit)
Reif was a German measure of length in Goslar . In various places, frost was another name for the fathoms in the firewood trade . It was the length of the circumference of a bundle of wood. In North German the term stood for the measure of Reep .
In the canvas trade, frost was only used as a measure of length in Goslar. Although every place used a different yardstick for the yardstick , here the yardstick of the Kingdom of Hanover should serve to understand the size of the yardstick .
The cubit was included in the calculation
- 1 cubit = 2 feet = 258.9689 Parisian lines = 0.5842 meters .
- 1 hoop = 10 cubits = 5.842 meters
