Reiichi Miyazaki

Reiichi Miyazaki ( Japanese 宮 崎 礼 壹 , Miyazaki Reiichi ; born May 13, 1945 in Saitama Prefecture ) is a Japanese lawyer, prosecutor and civil servant. From 2006 to 2010 he was Head of the Cabinet's Legislative Office .

Miyazaki grew up in Tokyo and studied law at the University of Tokyo . He passed his bar exam in 1967 and graduated in 1968. In 1970 he began his career as a prosecutor with the Tokyo, Okayama and Sapporo District Attorneys. In 1984 he moved as sanjikan in the criminal department ( keiji-kyoku ) of the Ministry of Justice and in 1987 for the first time in the legislative office. In the 1990s he headed various departments there, in 2004 he became deputy head ( jichō ).

In 2006 the first cabinet appointed Abe Miyazaki to succeed Masahiro Sakata as head of the legislative office. He kept the office in the Fukuda, Asō and Hatoyama cabinets until January 2010, when he resigned and was replaced by Shin'ichirō Kajita .
