Reik (prince)

The Reik was an elected warlord of the Prussians in the early Middle Ages .

Before submission to the Teutonic Order , the Prussians lived in clan associations led by hereditary nobility . In the event of war, these princely "Kunigas" elected a supreme commander of the "Prūsai", who held the rank of sovereign and was called Reik.
