The team spent the following four years in Division 2. After the 2006/07 season, they were promoted to Division 1 , the second highest French professional league. The previous club, Hockey Club de Reims , took part in the IIHF Continental Cup in the 1997 and 1999 and 2000/01 seasons. Two years later, the team won Group J with three wins, making it into the third round for the first time. The club was denied entry into the final round as it lost in the last group game against the Slovenian representative HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .
