Reiner Meier (born October 15, 1953 in Altmugl ) is a German politician ( CSU ).

Meier is a graduate in administration (FH) . Before he moved into the German Bundestag , he was a councilor at the Tirschenreuth district office . In 1973 he joined the CSU . From 2006 to 2008 he headed Horst Seehofer's office for members of the Bundestag and, after his move to the position of Bavarian Prime Minister, the office of the party chairman of the Christian-Social Union. Meier is the CSA district chairman of the Upper Palatinate and deputy state chairman of the CSA Bavaria. He is also a member of the Tirschenreuth district council.

In the 2013 federal election on September 22, 2013, Meier moved into the Bundestag as a member of the Bundestag at 36th place on the CSU state list.

During the 18th legislative period of the German Bundestag, Meier was a full member of the Committee on Health and a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs and the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment . He was also deputy chairman of the workers' group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

After Meier had renounced a nomination in the Weiden constituency for the 2017 federal election , he was elected to place 30 on the CSU state list, but missed re-entry into the German Bundestag due to the CSU election result.
