Recruitment (social research)

Under recruitment in accordance with the (empirical) social research is the process of acquiring without future panelists on a experiment , a test , a survey or observation .

Problems with recruiting

The results of an empirical research study can be distorted or even devalued if the sample on which it is based does not correspond to the personal characteristics of the population that is actually of interest (representativeness). It could be shown (Bortz, 2006) that people who voluntarily register or register as test subjects do not exactly correspond to the population in terms of their personal variables. Such a biased sample can be noticed through a pretest . Ideally, volunteers can be selected or statistical corrections planned in between the research steps “recruitment” and “measurement by instrument”.
