Ferdinand Kerschner

Ferdinand Kerschner (born April 8, 1953 in Amstetten , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian lawyer and professor of civil law and environmental law at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . Until his retirement on March 1, 2014, he was director of the Institute for Environmental Law and the Institute for Civil Law and Head of the Department for Environmental Private Law. He continues to work at the Institute for Environmental Law, Department for General Environmental Law and Environmental Technology Law.

Life

After taking his school leaving examination in 1971 , Ferdinand Kerschner studied law at the JKU. In 1977 he received his doctorate and worked as a university assistant in the Department of General Civil Law Doctrine at the Institute for Civil Law. In 1984 he was granted the license to teach civil law. After his time as assistant professor, he was initially promoted to associate professor. appointed for civil law. Since 1993 he has been Univ.-Prof. the Department for Environmental Private Law, from 1996 to 2014 he headed the Institute for Environmental Law. From 2005 Kerschner was deputy director of the Institute for Civil Law, from November 2009 to February 2014 he also headed this institute.

From December 1, 2008 to October 1, 2009, Kerschner was Senate Chairman of the JKU Linz.

Since 1994 Kerschner has been the editor of the series Law of the Environment and editor and co-editor of the magazine Law of the Environment (RdU). Kerschner is also co-editor of the 3rd edition of the major commentary on the ABGB (sound).

In 2013, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Kerschner was given the commemorative publication Interdisciplinary Jurisprudence - Protection Claims and Protection Tasks in Law , published by Erika Wagner and Wilhelm Bergthaler .

Since the beginning of 2016, Kerschner and Peter Bydlinski have been the publisher of the textbook series "Bürgerliches Recht" at Springer Verlag, after Peter Apathy resigned from his meritorious and successful editorial work due to his retirement at the end of 2015.

In 2016, Kerschner was appointed visiting professor at the Charles University in Prague .
