Relativistic beaming

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Relativistic beaming is an effect of the special theory of relativity , according to which the radiation of a moving object appears bundled and amplified in the direction of movement from the perspective of an external observer.

Beaming is a combination of aberration and the relativistic Doppler effect . In practice, for example, it plays a role in the generation of synchrotron radiation in particle accelerators and in astrophysics in relativistic jets .
