René Allonge

René Allonge (* 1973 ) is a German criminalist and chief investigator at the Berlin State Criminal Police Office. He became internationally known primarily for his services in the fight against art crime.

Life

René Allonge was born and raised in Mecklenburg. In 1992 he entered the service of the Berlin police chief and completed his studies at what is now the University of Economics and Law . He has been a member of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office since 1997 and specializes in combating qualified gang and property crime. In 2009, he was appointed head of the "Art Offenses" section at the Berlin State Criminal Police Office, in which art theft and counterfeiting in particular are investigated. The special department headed by René Allonge attracted attention through its investigations that led to the conviction of the art forger Wolfgang Beltracchi in 2010 . Investigations by René Allonge in Bad Dürkheim in 2015 led to the discovery of numerous monumental sculptures by Nazi sculptors Josef Thorak , Arno Breker and Fritz Klimsch , including Thorak's "Striding Horses", which were formerly set up in front of the New Reich Chancellery in Berlin and in 1989 from a barracks area in Eberswalde got lost.
