René Esterbauer

René Esterbauer (nickname EsterPOWER ; born November 7, 1984 ) is a former Austrian motorcycle racer .

Career

2003 was his first racing season in supermoto sport . In the first year René Esterbauer reached third place overall in the Red Bull KTM Supermoto Junior Cup , the following year he won all 12 of 12 races. With the overall victory in the Junior Cup, he was qualified for the Red Bull KTM Supermoto EUROCup . There he was also able to win the title and became Junior European Champion. From then on, Esterbauer was under contract with Red Bull and KTM Power Sports .

2005 was his first season in the professional class; he finished the year in 4th position. In 2006 and 2007 he was Vice State Champion in Austria. In 2008 Esterbauer finished the season in third place. In that year he also drove the entire world championship and finished it in 17th position.

In 2009 René became International Supermoto State Champion. After a serious accident in qualifying for the first race of the season 2010, in which he suffered severe injuries to his left arm, he had to write off the following season. However, he won his first race in the state championship, 140 days after the accident. Esterbauer ended the 2011 national championship season in third place.

In January 2012 René Esterbauer announced his departure from top-class motorsport.

Esterbauer studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein until 2012 (course in sports, culture and event management).
