René Mercier (born January 22, 1937 ) is a former French biathlete .

The customs officer Mercier took at the Winter Olympics in 1960 of Squaw Valley part in the first Olympic biathlon race. Behind his compatriot Victor Arbez , he ran the second-best cross-country time with one hour and 26: 13.2 minutes. But due to his 15 shooting errors - Mercier only hit five of his 20 shots - he received 30 penalty minutes and was 22nd of the 30 starter at the end.
