Renate Zimmermann

Renate Zimmermann (* 1936 in Berlin ) is a German organist .

Renate Zimmermann b. Marx studied the organ in Heidelberg and Cologne. She received her first position as a lecturer for improvisation at the church music school in Berlin-Spandau .

In 1977 she took over a professorship for organ playing at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt . In addition, she continued to teach in Berlin-Spandau and Heidelberg and, since 1985, as a guest lecturer at the Detmold University of Music.

In 1988 she received the first full-time professorship for organ improvisation in Germany at the Detmold University of Music .

Since her retirement, Renate Zimmermann has held numerous courses in Germany, England, America, Korea and China.

She is married to the composer Heinz Werner Zimmermann .
