Rendezvous in Paris or The Great Multiplication Table is an emancipatory novel by Vicki Baum . It is the first novel that the author wrote in exile in Los Angeles in 1935 .

content

Well-protected and neglected by her lawyer husband, Evelyn Droste breaks out for an affair with an American and puts her bourgeois existence at risk. For Frank it is just an adventure, but Evelyn follows him to Paris for a weekend. Husband Kurt thinks she is in the country with her friend Marianne. The plane crashes on the flight home. Kurt only now learns of Evelyn's loneliness.

The story is told in the novel from three perspectives ( protagonist , husband, lover).

filming

In 1950 the novel by René Clément was first filmed with Michèle Morgan under the original title Le Château de verre (dt. Rendezvous in Paris (1950) ) . In 1982 the film was made by Gabi Kubach with Claude Jade as Evelyne, also under the title Rendezvous in Paris (1982) .
