Racing clause

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The racing clause is a term from insurance law . This means that the insurance company regulates the exclusion of benefits in the field of car insurance if the insured participates in a racing event in which the achievement of a top speed is important.

In the past there have been various court rulings regarding the racing clause and its interpretation. Insurers, for example, have been sentenced to take over damage at events at which so-called regularity tests (i.e. the aim was to drive as evenly as possible). As a result, the General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV) reacted and introduced new racing clauses in its model terms and conditions that extended exemptions from insurance cover to all drives on motorsport racetracks with the exception of driver safety training.
