Rent-A-Wreck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rent-A-Wreck is an international old car rental company founded in 1968 by Dave Schwartz in Los Angeles. According to our own account, it is the oldest and largest of its kind.

Rent-a-Wreck (in German: Rent-a-Schrottauto) originally arose from the idea of renting out cars that are cheaper on the one hand than those of the established competition and on the other hand are not recognizable as rental cars at first glance. So it can be an advantage not to immediately identify yourself as a helpless, unarmed tourist . Normal rental cars are easy to spot. Rent-a-Wreck rental cars are not noticed and this is seen as an advantage by many customers.

The family business has been renting old cars in South Africa since 1973 . Today it is represented with a total of over 400 stations in South Africa, the USA , Canada , Norway , Denmark , Sweden and Iceland (since July 28, 2005).
