Renzo Pecchenino ( 1934 - 1988 ) was a Chilean cartoonist .

biography

He came to Chile with his parents for a little over a year and settled in the port of Valparaíso. There he studied architecture at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, a career that left the product of his father's death, and then devoted himself to drawing. In 1958 he started working as a cartoonist in the newspaper La Unión de Valparaíso, where he started using the pseudonym LUKAS. In April 1964 he married María Teresa Lobos Koyck, with whom he had five children: Giulio, Antonella, Daniella, Renzo and Franco. In 1966 he started moving for El Mercurio de Valparaíso, and then moved to El Mercurio and La Segunda de Santiago. He worked for national and foreign publications, for Correos de Chile and worked for advertising and television. In 1967 he created his most famous character, Don Memorario, on the pages of El Mercurio, where he commented on national events. In 1981 he received the National Prize for Journalism and on April 1, 1987 the Chilean nationality by grace. He died of cancer the following year.
