Under repairability is understood:

  • Repair - technical process to restore an object to a functional condition.
  • Repairability - An item that is constructed in such a way that it can be (technically) repaired is repairable .
  • Ease of Repair - If the design makes it easy to repair , the item is easy to repair . (The old VW Beetle was easy to repair .)
  • Ease of repair - Ease of repair includes, in addition to technical repairability, the availability of a repair service provider (if do-it-yourself is not possible or desired) and the cost-effectiveness of the repair. (A cell phone in which every glass breakage and every failure of the battery leads to total economic loss is not designed to be easy to repair .)
