Res (real name Shareese Renée Ballard ) is an American singer and songwriter .

Solo career

2001 Res' debut album "How I Do" was released on MCA Records. The first singles were "Golden Boys" and "Ice King". The third single, "They-Say Vision", written by Santi White and Martin "Doc" McKinney, finally broke through and reached # 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts.

In 2003, her version of the Jefferson Starship song "Miracles" appeared on the soundtrack of the film Manhattan Love Story . In 2006, another song, "To Empower," appeared on the soundtrack of the drama "Akeelah is the greatest" (Akeelah and the Bee).

In 2009 Res released her second album, "Black.Girls.Rock", on Snocap and iTunes as well as a limited edition CD .

In August 2010 she announced her third solo album, "Reset", which will be produced again by Martin "Doc" McKinney, producer of the successful debut album. First, however, the EP "Refried Mac" was released in 2013 with five cover versions of Fleetwood Mac songs.

Idle warship

In 2009 Res and rapper Talib Kweli formed the duo Idle Warship. In this formation they went on a European tour in the same year, which also took them to Germany. In 2010 the compilation "Party Robots Mixtape" was released. The debut album "Habits of the Heart" was released in 2011.
